• 1989 — Lodestar Investment Counsel was founded, as an independent Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) by William Goldstein, together with Kimberly Geary. At that time, Lodestar worked with 25 clients with assets under management of approximately $30 million. Today, our firm serves over 350 clients, with assets under management in excess of $700 million.
• 1991 — Robert H. Dearborn, CFA, joined Lodestar as a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager. Bob was previously with a large Chicago based advisory firm.
• 1992 — Lodestar surpasses $100 million in assets under management.
• 2000 — John Sobel joined the firm as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager.  John was previously with a large financial services firm.
• 2002 — Peter Flanzer joined the firm in 2002, both as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining Lodestar, Peter was with a Chicago based advisory firm.
• 2002 — A majority interest in Lodestar is acquired by PrivateBancorp, Inc., a Chicago-based diversified financial services company focused on commercial banking and wealth management. PrivateBancorp, with 22 offices nationwide, is traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker symbol “PVTB”.
• 2004 — Lodestar surpasses $600 million in assets under management.
• 2007 — Lodestar has over $750 million in assets under management, completing its 18th consecutive year of business expansion.
• 2009 — Mark Ganchiff joined the firm in 2009, as a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining Lodestar, Mark was with The PrivateBank and Trust Company.
